MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Foreign companies seek to participate in liquefied natural gas (LNG) projects in Iran, chief executive of National Iranian Gas Exports Company (NIGEC) Alireza Kameli said, as cited by the local media.
According to Kameli, talks are underway between NIGEC and eight foreign companies specialized in LNG projects, the IRNA news agency reported.
NIGEC is reportedly waiting for Petroleum Minister Bijan Zangeneh’s decision to enter possible deals.
Iran possesses one of the largest reserves of the natural gas in the world, estimated at 34,020 billion cubic meters, according to the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries.
On January 16, the International Atomic Energy Agency verified Tehran’s compliance with the nuclear deal Iran reached in July with six world powers, opening the way for the Arab country's return to the global energy market.
