At Least 18 Taliban Militants Killed in Northern Afghanistan
Afghanistan's security forces killed at least 18 Taliban militants in the country's northern province of Faryab on Tuesday, the Afghan Defense Ministry said in a statement.
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Eight other militants were severely injured and two vehicles were destroyed during the joint operation by the infantry and the air forces, according to the statement.
The Faryab province remains unstable amid active operations of the militant groups in the region.
Afghanistan is in a state of political and social turmoil, fighting the continuing Taliban insurgency, with other extremist groups expanding their activities in the country as well.
