MOSCOW (Sputnik) — On Thursday, the United Kingdom held the referendum, in which Northern Irish voters have supported membership in the 28-nation bloc with the majority of 349,442 votes. Despite this fact the supporters of Brexit in the United Kingdom are leading at the moment, mostly due to the support in England and Wales.
"We now have a situation where Brexit has become a further cost of partition, a further cost of the Union and Sinn Féin will now press our demand, our long standing demand, for a border poll," Kearney said, as quoted by the Irish RTE News broadcaster.
He added that the British Government had forfeited its mandate to represent Northern Ireland in relation to the 28-nation bloc.
