LONDON (Sputnik) — On Thursday, the United Kingdom held a referendum on its membership in the European Union. In Scotland, 1,661,191 voted in favor of remaining part of the European Union, while 1,018,322 voted in favor of leaving.
"While the overall result remains to be declared, the vote here makes clear that the people of Scotland see their future as part of the European Union," Sturgeon said, as quoted by The Telegraph.
She added that the final results had not been revealed, but Scotland had already "spoken — and spoken decisively."
