MOSCOW (Sputnik) — European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker on Saturday asked European Commissioner for the Euro and Social Dialogue Valdis Dombrovskis to serve as acting European Commissioner for Financial Stability, Financial Services and Capital Markets Union in place of the United Kingdom's Jonathan Hill.
"The work of the European Union must go on. After having spoken with Martin Schulz, President of the European Parliament, I have asked Valdis Dombrovskis, Vice-President responsible for the Euro and Social Dialogue, to take over the portfolio for Financial Stability, Financial Services and the Capital Markets Union," Juncker was quoted and saying in a European Commission statement.
Dombrovskis is already carrying out work under the portfolio and coordinating with other commissioners, Juncker added.
