MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The creation of the Russian payment system is supported by 94 percent of those who usually pay by credit card, rather than cash, and by 71 percent of those who use only cash, according to the poll by the Russia Public Opinion Research Center (VCIOM).
The poll also revealed that 72 percent of respondents support the overall development of technologies to prevent the transfer and procession of Russian consumers' data abroad, while only 11 percent do not support the idea.
The poll was conducted on June 21-23 among 1,600 people aged above 18 years.
The Mir national payment system kicked off in Russia on April 1, 2015. The system was created after Visa and MasterCard ceased to serve the cards of some Russian banks because of the US sanctions imposed on Russia on the pretext of the conflict in Ukraine.
