WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Ukraine public officials currently just wait to be appointed by the government but new reforms would make it an open bid process, Yatsenyuk noted.
“Together with our European partners we’ll establish a top up fund for the transition period to increase wages and salaries in the Ukrainian public sector,” Yatsenyuk said about ways to eliminate corruption. “To attract smart and effective folks you need to pay them. This is one of the incentives for creating an efficient and strong public sector.”
The Ukrainian economy has deteriorated since an armed conflict between government forces and militia in the country's southeast escalated in April 2014. Kiev has been forced to increasingly rely on external funding to reanimate the economy amid a deep recession and high inflation.
