NEW DELHI (Sputnik) — Daesh had planned to attack mosques and other important government offices in Hyderabad in a similar way in which they attacked a holy mosque in Medina in Saudi Arabia, sources in the Indian Home Ministry told Sputnik.
According to Home Ministry sources, Daesh suspects had planned similar types of attacks at mosques in the Charminar area of Hyderabad as they have targeted Medina mosque in Saudi Arabia.
"Had they been successful in completing their mission in India it would been a major terror attack with large casualties as Charminar area is densely populated," sources told Sputnik.
"Daesh says that mosques should be demolished. According to their ideology mosques and shrines of religious saints have no significance. So now they are targeting mosques as they have done in Saudi Arabia. Daesh is against Saudi Arabia also.
Although, Saudi Arabia supports Daesh but there are some ideological differences," Defense and Security Affairs expert, Major General (Rtd) Afsir Karim told Sputnik.
