MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Earlier in the day, reports appeared that Poteyev died.
"No, we do not see [a threat of anti-Russia campaign]. It is obvious that he was a traitor, but we do not see [the threat] in this case," Peskov told reporters, answering a question about a possible information campaign against Moscow, following the reported death.
Peskov added that the issue did not concern either the Kremlin or Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Poteyev was convicted in absentia in Russia of disclosing the identities of a group of alleged Russian agents arrested and deported by US authorities in 2010. He was subsequently sentenced to 25 years in prison.
