BERLIN (Sputnik) — Around 3,500 people took to the streets on Saturday to protest against Berlin authorities' efforts to clear a squat in the east of the city. More than 1,800 officers were deployed to monitor the protest.
According to the police, protesters, including members of left movements, were throwing bottles and stones at the officers.
"From around 1,800 security officers… 123 were injured during the operation," the police said in a statement.
According to the Berlin police, 86 protesters were arrested, the majority of them were released later.
