MOSCOW (Sputnik) — France should be held accountable for the fact that it had not prevented a series of terrorist attacks by Daesh militants who had been on police and intelligence services surveillance lists, lawyer representing families of 17 victims of the Paris terrorist attacks Samia Maktouf said Tuesday.
"We will do everything possible to get a conviction of the French government for the fact that they had not prevented the actions of terrorists, some of whom were under judicial monitoring," Maktouf told French BFM TV channel.
She added that the mistakes were made by the people in the intelligence services and judiciary, and that those people now need to be held responsible as their oversights led to death of many innocent people.
On November 13, Islamic terrorists conducted a series of coordinated attacks in the French capital, killing 130 people and injuring over 360, many critically. Daesh jihadist group, outlawed in Russia and many other countries, claimed responsibility for the attack.
On July 5, the French parliamentary commission of inquiry said that France needs reforms in the sphere of intelligence as the country was not ready for the attacks in Paris in November 2015. It presented main findings of its inquiry into the attacks which suggested that the attack at the Bataclan Concert Hall could not have been avoided, though the French intelligence had received threats from jihadists regarding the targets in previous years.
