MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The ministry has already received the first Tu-95MS aircraft, which had been modernized in accordance with the state requirements and technical documentation, according to Konyukhov.
"In accordance with conditions of state contracts, the Russian Defense Ministry will receive seven more modernized Tu-95MS planes," Konyukhov said.
Earlier in the day, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said that the volumes of supplying the ministry with main military hardware samples had reached almost 40 percent of the year plan.
Tu-95MS is a strategic bomber, which is capable to carry long range strategic air launched cruise missiles. The aircraft was put into serial production in 1981 and is a modification of the Soviet-made Tu-95 strategic bomber, which has been in service since 1957.
