"What is death?" asked an eight year old boy from India's Hyderabad city when the police told him that his schoolmate whom he had kicked during a scuffle had died.
According to witnesses, the accused had repeatedly bullied a six year old junior schoolmate over his "runny nose" for some days. When the younger boy lost patience and retorted the verbal abuses, the older one became enraged, triggering a brawl between the two. The accused reportedly kicked the victim several times in the stomach and testicles. School authorities took the victim to a nearby hospital, where he was administered first-aid and sent back home.
Later, in the evening, the victim complained of sharp pain in his testicles. He was again rushed to the hospital, where he underwent multiple surgeries to stop internal bleeding. However, he succumbed to his injuries.
Police did not arrest the accused as he is a minor. Nevertheless, he has been charged with "culpable homicide not amounting to murder" under the Indian Penal Code. The case will be heard by the Juvenile court in Hyderabad.
