WADA Welcomes CAS Rejection of Russian Athletes Appeal Against IAAF Ban
World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) President Craig Reedie welcomed the ruling of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) upholding collective ban imposed by the International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF) on the Russian track-and-field athletes on Thursday.
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — In 2015, WADA's Independent Commission issued a report accusing Russia of numerous breaches of global anti-doping regulations, which led to Russia's suspension from the IAAF.
"WADA firmly believes that this is not about punishing some athletes for the actions of others. It is about the IAAF requiring its member National Federation, ARAF [All-Russia Athletic Federation], to live up to the IAAF’s World Anti-Doping Code compliant rules by enforcing them effectively in their jurisdiction," Reedie said.
