WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The cause of the crash is under investigation, according to the statement.
"An F/A-18C Hornet attached to the Naval Aviation Warfighting Development Center (NAWDC) crashed about 10 miles southeast of Naval Air Station Fallon (NASF) at approximately 10:45 a.m. Aug. 2," the statement noted.
The crash happened during a routine training flight, the statement added.
The pilot ejected, and was taken to the hospital, but there is no word on his or her condition.
