WASHINGTON (Sputnik) – US President Barack Obama and Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton are directly responsible for undermining stability in the Middle East, Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump said in a statement on Friday.
"Hillary Clinton and President Obama bear the direct responsibility of destabilizing the Middle East, having let ISIS take firm hold in Iraq, Libya and Syria, not to mention their allowing Americans to be slaughtered at Benghazi," Trump said.
The Republican candidate added that the former state secretary "has bad judgment and is unfit to serve as President."
Trump’s comments come after Obama called him "unfit" for a US presidential seat and "woefully unprepared" for the job during a news conference earlier in the week.
Trump is a Republican frontrunner in the US presidential race. The billionaire businessman has been criticized for his controversial statements, including in relation to women, immigrants and Muslims.
