"The Council of the Federation [Russian parliament's upper house] plans to step up dialogue with Turkish legislators and promote regional cooperation," Matvienko told journalists.
The Russian legislator added that Russia and Turkey have to combine efforts in fight against terrorism in a bid to improve global and regional security.
"I believe that anti-terror cooperation and interaction between Russia and Turkey may make an important contribution to solution of regional issues and in global security," Matvienko added.
Relations between Moscow and Ankara hit rock bottom last November after a Turkish jet shot down a Russian plane on the Syrian border. Their ties started warming up again after the Turkish president offered his condolences to the family of the slain Russian pilot in June.
