MOSCOW (Sputnik) – About 40 Taliban terrorists and 30 more militants from unspecified groups were killed in various parts of the southeastern province of Paktika. The ministry said that there were nine foreign fighters among the killed.
Afghanistan is in a state of political and social turmoil, fighting the continuing Taliban insurgency, with other extremist groups such as the Daesh expanding their activities in the country as well. Over the last months, the Taliban has made advances in Helmand, Kandahar, Kunduz and Uruzgan provinces, and civil casualties are at their highest level in two years.
