Clinton Holds 14-Point Lead Over Trump in US Election Swing State of Virginia
14:10 GMT 16.08.2016 (Updated: 11:08 GMT 06.08.2022) US Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton is holding a double-digit lead over her Republican opponent Donald Trump in the swing state of Virginia, a new Washington Post poll revealed on Tuesday.
WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The poll noted that one of the main reasons for Clinton's advance is "a disdain for the Republican presidential nominee."
"Clinton leads Trump by a 14-point margin — 52 percent to 38 percent — among registered voters in the state and by an eight-point margin among likely voters, 51 percent to 43 percent," the poll summary stated.
The former US secretary of state is leading the real estate mogul in all but the rural southwestern part of the state, according to the poll.
The poll summary added that Clinton has the advantage even though her popularity with Virginia voters is low. Only 44 percent of voters have a favorable opinion of the former first lady. However, Trump’s favorability rating stands at 32 percent, according to the poll.
