KRASNOYARSK (Sputnik) – On Tuesday, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich hosted a meeting with various officials to discuss the issues of funding the upcoming Universiade.
"The Russian government has agreed on all the costs to be paid out of the federal budget to prepare for the Universiade 2019 in Krasnoyarsk… The total sum to be spent by the state amounts to 31.5 billion rubles," the statement reads.
According to the local government, 14.4 billion rubles will be used to build sports facilities, 7.3 billion rubles will be used on funding medical facilities, 6 billion rubles will cover the costs of the Universiade Village infrastructure, while the improvement of transport infrastructure will cost some 3.6 billion rubles. The remaining 12.5 billion will be spent by the Krasnoyarsk Territory’s government.
The 2019 Winter Universiade will be held on March 2-12.
