Dogged Deflation, Hidden Inflation
09:28 GMT 23.08.2016 (Updated: 11:09 GMT 06.08.2022) On today’s episode of Double Down, hosts Max Keiser and Stacy Herbert are joined by author Charles Hugh Smith to discuss terrorized investors buying long bonds in a deflationary - or is that inflationary? - world.
The IMF has urged Japan to resurrect a radical unorthodox ‘incomes policy’ last seen in the United States several decades ago. This time around, however, wages would be pegged higher, rather than lower to fight deflation rather than inflation. Charles Hugh Smith of OfTwoMinds.com tells Double Down that it is inflation, however, not deflation in the US that is the big problem for the ordinary consumer.
