Today’s main stories: The Brazilian senate is currently voting on whether to impeach the embattled suspended president Dilma Rousseff. The vote is expected to succeed, and follows a nine month campaign by her opponents, which will likely see her conservative vice president Michel Temer officially installed as President. Following on from reports over the past few weeks highlighting allegations of severe abuse at Australia’s offshore detention centers, the opposition Labor party will tomorrow bid to launch a full scale inquiry into the treatment of refugees and asylum seekers.
