Russian President Vladimir Putin will meet with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on the sidelines of the second Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) in Russia’s Far East on Friday.

VLADIVOSTOK (Sputnik) – Putin and Abe will first discuss bilateral ties and sensitive international issues and will then move on to talks in expanded format that will be attended by delegations of the two countries, according to Russian Presidential Aide Yuri Ushakov.

Russian Fund to Discuss Investment With Japan, S Korea at Eastern Economic Forum

The Russian leader arrived in the Far East on August 31 and will take part in the EEF that is taking place on September 2-3 on the campus of Russia’s Far Eastern Federal University on Russky Island.

According to the Kremlin, Putin will meet with prospective investors on Friday and will discuss further ways of developing business in the region.
