TASHKENT (Sputnik) — Earlier in the day, the Uzbek government confirmed that Karimov was in critical condition after being hospitalized on Saturday after suffering a stroke. Media reports emerged claiming that Karimov had died.
"The government doesn't comment on media reports about the situation related to the illness of the president of Uzbekistan," the representative said.
Earlier on Friday, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Russia has no official news on the health of Karimov, adding that the Russian side does not consider it possible to be guided by media reports in this case.
