"I look forward to an extensive discussion of shared interests in advancing regional and global security from the Korean peninsula to the fight against ISIL [Daesh]," Obama said at the bilateral meeting with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping in Hangzhou.
The US president noted that despite some differences on human rights or cybersecurity issues, both sides remain committed to constructive bilateral relations.
"I am committed to ensuring not only that this is a productive meeting, but also that it is setting the steps for the next US administration to come in with the [US-China] relationship on a productive way," Obama added.
Obama stated that he considered the G20 summit in Hangzhou as an opportunity to discuss the importance of US-China relationship and raise the effectiveness of the two countries' cooperation.
"Meeting here is an opportunity to discuss the importance of the US-China relationship," he said.
Obama underscored that the summit, "in which we deposited ratification of the Paris Agreement, " is an example of effective cooperation between the two nations.
The G20 Summit will take place in the Chinese city of Hangzhou on September 4-5.
