MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Egypt aims to equip its army with modern Russia-produced weaponry, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said Monday.
"[We] are glad to note that Egypt seeks to use modern weapons and military equipment manufactured in Russia to equip the national armed forces," Shoigu said at the third meeting of the joint military and technical cooperation commission.
He added that the Russian weaponry effectiveness was demonstrated in Syria. The minister also stressed the importance of connecting Egypt to Russia's Glonass satellite navigation network in May 2016.
The third joint military and technical cooperation commission is expected to evaluate the results of the previous year work and set the goals for the upcoming one.
