MOSCOW (Sputnik) – North Korea’s fifth and latest nuclear missile test carried the explosive power of 30 kilotonnes, a source in the Russian security agencies told RIA Novosti on Friday.
"The preliminary capacity of the tested nuclear weapon is 30 kilotonnes," the official said.
Pyongyang has officially confirmed that it successfully carried out a new nuclear test early Friday after a seismic event was registered near a test site in the country’s northeast.
North Korea's Central News Agency (KCNA) announced the test confirmed that "standardized" nuclear warheads can be mounted on "strategic ballistic rockets."
The power of the "Fat Man" atomic bomb dropped by the United States on the Japanese town of Nagasaki on August 9, 1945, stood at 21 kilotonnes.
