TOKYO (Sputnik) – The planned meeting was scheduled after a joint request by South Korea, Japan and the United States, the Yonhap news agency said on Friday citing South Korean diplomatic sources.
On Friday, the US Geological Survey (USGS), as well as Japan’s and China’s meteorological services, detected a ground-level (0 kilometer depth) seismic event northeast of the town of Sungjibaegam, near the Punggye-ri nuclear test site in North Korea, saying it could be an explosion.
The South Korean military said that North Korea could have carried out its fifth and "biggest-ever" nuclear test on Friday, on the occasion of the 68th anniversary of the foundation of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
