"Neglecting the presidential elections case Austria and the whole European nation is confronted with the tremendous challenges in the future and nevertheless if president will be Norbert Hofer or Alexander Van der Bellen there will be no big change," Lindner said.
He added that Austria was taking all the democratic provisions at the upcoming elections and expressed hope that there would be no technical problems this time.
The rerun of the presidential elections was announced after Austria's Constitutional Court ruled in July that ballots and voting results had been handled improperly and annulled the results of the May 22 second round, upon which independent candidate Van der Bellen was declared winner, beating anti-immigration Freedom Party’s (FPO) candidate Norbert Hofer by just 31,000 votes.
The elections rerun is scheduled for December 4.
