Parliamentary elections in Russia are taking place on Sunday without any gross violations in the voting procedure, a senior member of the Central Election Commission said.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The state electoral authority set up a telephone hotline for callers to report perceived violations of the electoral process.

"Judging by the data provided via hotline, there have been no reports of gross violations," Commission’s Secretary Maya Grishina said.

Over 10 percent of Russians voted in the election in the lower house of the national parliament, the State Duma, as of 11:00 a.m. Moscow time (08:00 GMT).

More than 111 million eligible voters are electing 450 lawmakers for the next five years. Voting is underway at some 95,000 polling stations across Russia and in diplomatic missions in 145 countries.
