UNITED NATINS (Sputnik) — It is too early to assign blame for the airstrike on an aid convoy in the Syrian city of Aleppo as the facts are yet to be established, Australian Foreign Minister Julie Bishop told Sputnik.
"It was a shocking incident," Bishop said in a brief interview on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly session in New York on Tuesday. "It's terrible and the facts are yet to be determined."
Monday’s attack forced the United Nations to halt aid deliveries across Syria following the attack that killed at least one aid worker and up to 20 civilians.
The attack occurred in a section of Aleppo that is controlled by rebels who are fighting both the Islamic State terrorist group and to overthrow the government of Syrian President Bashar Assad.
