UNITED NATIONS (Sputnik) – Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov could meet with US Secretary of State John Kerry on Wednesday evening in New York, a Russian Foreign Ministry source told journalists.
"There is a possibility of holding such a meeting this evening," the source said on Wednesday.
If held, the meeting would be the second between Lavrov and Kerry on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York.
On Tuesday, Lavrov and Kerry had a short bilateral discussion ahead of the International Syria Support Group (ISSG) meeting on the sidelines of the 71st UN General Assembly.
On September 9, the Russian foreign minister and the US secretary of state presented a new plan to regulate the conflict in Syria.
US officials have said that regular contacts maintained between the diplomats since September 12 when the new US-Russia agreed ceasefire came into force in Syria, are planned to continue over the next days.
