WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has moved ahead of his Democratic opponent Hillary Clinton in the three major US states of Ohio, North Carolina and Nevada, a Fox News poll reported.
"Donald Trump narrowly leads Hillary Clinton in the battleground states of Nevada, North Carolina and Ohio," Fox News said about the poll taken in the three so-called "battleground" or swing states from September 18-20 and released on Wednesday.
In Ohio, widely regarded as one of the most crucial "battleground" states, Trump led Clinton by 42 percent to 37 percent with 6 percent for Libertarian Party candidate Gary Johnson, the poll found. Green Party candidate Jill Stein came fourth with 2 percent.
Stein was not on the ballot in either of those two states.
Fox News said Trump was enjoying growing support in the three states from working-class white voters, but Clinton was weakening among younger voters and women, two groups among which she had been widely expected to perform strongly.
