WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — US voters still do not know where US presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump stand on important issues only days before the first debate, according to a Pew Research poll released on Friday.
"[O]nly about half of voters (48 percent) say they know ‘a lot’ about where Clinton stands on important issues, while even fewer (41 percent) say this about Trump," Pew stated.
Poll respondents who lean toward the Republican Party were twice as likely, or 58 percent, while 30 percent of Democrats say they know a lot about where he stands.
Democrats and Republicans were closer on Clinton, with 54 percent of Democrats and 46 percent of Republicans saying they knew a lot about her positions.
The first US presidential debate will be held on September 26 at Hofstra University in New York.
