BAKU (Sputnik) — Voters in Azerbaijan were offered several amendments to their founding law, including on extending the presidential term from five to seven years.
"The turnout at the referendum in Azerbaijan by 12:00 [08:00 GMT] amounts to 30.6 percent," Farid Orudzhev said at a press conference.
A turnout of at least 25 percent is required for the referendum to be legitimate and a simple majority will be sufficient for the amendments to pass.
The results are expected to be announced on October 21.
