ALGIERS (Sputnik) — Sun said he had received "a lot of support" from Russia, one of IEF's 72 member states, since his appointment as IEF chief in August and would like it to play a bigger role in the forum.

"I'm going to have a meeting with the minister and we'll discuss how to further improve this relationship," the IEF secretary general said at an energy conference in Algeria.

IEF countries account for around 90 percent of global supply and demand for oil and gas. It seeks to foster greater mutual awareness of common energy interests and promote energy dialogue.
