VIENNA (Sputnik) — The ceremony was attended by Russia's Rosatom nuclear agency CEO Sergey Kirienko and Secretary General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Yukia Amano.
"Russia has a long tradition of high technologies and the Russian institute of Kurchatov proves that… we are benefiting from the results of these achievements," Amano said at the ceremony.
He also thanked Russia for "the excellent tradition" of cooperation with IAEA.
Kurchatov guided the development of Russia’s first atomic bomb, practical thermonuclear bomb, as well as first nuclear reactor.
