"The five detainees formed a cell with perfectly organized structure, which followed instructions from the Daesh terrorist group conveyed through various Internet channels, including the Facebook page 'Islam in Spanish'…which has 32,500 followers and contains publications, mostly, in Spanish, which spread religious content, messages and comments of a radical character, in which jihadists praised Daesh actions," the statement reads.
Spain's terror threat alert has been raised to level four out of five after the November 2015 attacks in Paris. According to a study conducted by the Elcano Royal Institute, Spanish police have detained more than 150 Islamists over the last four years.
Daesh militant group controls large areas of Syria and Iraq and is banned in many countries, including Russia. The group is notorious for its brutality and human rights violations, as well as for recruiting people from all over the world via social networks through which it spreads its radical ideology and urges young people to join the group.
