MOSCOW (Sputnik) — A Daesh drone was shot down in the Al Qayyarah region in Iraq's Nineveh province by volunteer forces on Wednesday, an Iraqi parliamentarian said.
"The drone was downed in al-Qayyara region located 65 kilometers to the South of Nineveh and was equipped with a camera that the ISIL [Daesh] used for monitoring the movements of Iraq's security and tribal forces," Ahmad Jabouri, an Iraqi member of parliament from the Nineveh province, was quoted as saying by Fars news agency.
The drone adds to a number of Daesh drones downed this year, the latest in late August when Iraqi security forces successfully shot down an IS drone equipped with a camera in the town of al-Rataba.
Daesh is a militant group, notorious for its brutality and human rights violations, banned in many countries including Russia.
