MEXICO CITY (Sputnik) — The meeting between Maduro and Kerry took place on Tuesday in Colombia on the sidelines of the signing of a peace deal between the Colombian government and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) former rebel group. The signing ceremony was attended by a large number of international guests.
"I want better relations and dialogue with Barack Obama, as well as the next president, whomever comes after," the president said during the weekly "In Contact with Maduro" television program.
The meeting with Kerry was held in a diplomatic and positive manner, he added.
In June, Maduro said he was ready to restore relations with the United States and appoint a new ambassador to Washington. He said that that Kerry offered Venezuelan Foreign Minister Delcy Rodriguez to hold several high profile official meetings, and he agreed to the offer.
