Peres died on Wednesday at age 93 after suffering a stroke several weeks ago.
Peres served two terms each as Israel's prime minister and interim prime minister. He also was the country's ninth president, serving from 2007 to 2014.
Peres was one of the architects of the 1993 Oslo accord that helped sustain peace in the Middle East. In 1994, while serving as Israel's foreign minister, he received the Nobel Peace Prize for that effort, along with then-Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin and Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat.
