TOKYO (Sputnik) — Police confirmed the incident took place at Takadanobaba railway station in the center of the Japanese capital. Some 20 people reportedly said they had felt the strange smell before feeling sick.
According to the NHK broadcaster, experts are carrying out works at the station trying to find the source of the smell. Ambulances and firefighters are also present at the cite of the incident. According to the media outlet, the incident has not halted the train traffic.
In 1995, several members of the Aum Shinrikyo death cult released deadly sarin gas in the Tokyo metro underground, killing 13 people and injuring about a thousand more.
