Allegations have been levied against the Sudanese government following Amnesty International’s report into evidence of chemical warfare against civilians in Darfur; and, could Nicholas Sarkozy’s re-election bid be derailed by a series of scandals?

"Scorched Earth, Poisoned Air" is the title of a report released today by Amnesty International, alleging that the Sudanese government have been using chemical weapons in attacks in Darfur, including attacks on civilians and many children. They have said that as the conflict continues, "the world has stopped watching." We speak to David Griffiths, Head of Office for Amnesty’s Secretary General.

Nicholas Sarkozy's bid to become a presidential nominee for next year's French elections could be on shaky grounds, following a series of so-called scandals, and the continued investigation into allegations that he received millions of Euros from former Libyan President, Colonel Gaddafi, during his 2007 campaign. We speak to James Shields, Professor of French Politics at Aston University.
