Maxim Kuzin, representative of Russia’s machine-building company Uralvagonzavod said that Saudi Arabia showed interest in buying Russian wind-powered energy generators.

BAKU (Sputnik) — Saudi Arabia wants to buy a large batch of wind turbines from Russia’s machine-building company Uralvagonzavod to power its desalination plants, the firm’s turbine designer said Thursday.

"We see Saudi Arabia as the main export market for our wind turbines. They said they were going to power the country’s desalination infrastructure with wind power," Maxim Kuzin told reporters in Baku, Azerbaijan adding that the company had been negotiating the deal with Riyadh for about four months.

Kuzin added that Azerbaijan and Belarus similarly showed interest in buying Russian wind-powered energy generators.

Uralvagonzavod’s wind turbines produce 19 kilowatt a day, Kuzin said as he presented the generator for the first time ever at a defense expo in Baku, ADEX-2016. They can operate with wind at a speed of 3.1mph and do not make much noise.
