MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The vessel was damaged in the strategic Bab-el-Mandeb strait between Yemen and the Horn of Africa, the Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported.
No injuries were suffered among crew members, according to the news outlet.
Yemen's Al Masirah television channel said that fighters from the country's Ansar Allah movement, also known as the Houthi rebels, have hit a UAE military vessel near the Yemeni port city of Mocha.
The vessel has been destroyed, the channel said, citing the Houthis.
Yemen has been engulfed in a military conflict between the government headed by Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi and the Houthi rebels since 2014.
Since March 2015, the Saudi-led coalition of mostly Persian Gulf countries has been carrying out airstrikes against the Houthis at Hadi's request. The coalition has been accused by the United Nations and humanitarian organizations of bombing hospitals and killing civilians. The UAE is taking part in the intervention alongside Saudi Arabia.
