UK PM May Reaffirms Need to Maintain 'Special Relationship' With US
06:58 GMT 04.10.2016 (Updated: 15:29 GMT 28.05.2023) The British prime minister said she wanted the special UK-US relationship to continue into the future.
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — UK Prime Minister Theresa May declared on Tuesday she wanted her country to be able to preserve its special ties with the United States.
"The United Kingdom for a long time had that special relationship with America. I want to see that special relationship with America continuing into the future," May said on ITV’s Good Morning Britain show.

The United Kingdom is expected to redefine its links with the European Union and other countries after it leaves the bloc. May said last week the plan was to initiate the formal process by the end of March 2017.
Ahead of the historic UK referendum on EU membership in June, US President Barack Obama warned Britain that its vote to quit would put the country at the end of the line in their trade talks. In September, he said, however, that US-UK ties remained strong.
