“[Police] have evacuated people from the two buildings. The searches are underway. As soon as they finish, people will be able to return to the buildings,” the spokesperson told RIA Novosti, adding that the evacuated buildings, Portalis and Montesquieu, house Brussels’s Prosecutor's Office, courts and offices of judicial investigators.
The spokesperson also stressed that the police were proceeding with an investigation into the incident.
During the recent years devastating terrorist attacks hit the European countries, including Belgium, prompting EU authorities to increase safety and security and engage in the international fight against terrorism. The largest attack occurred in the Belgian capital on March 22, when two explosions hit Brussels Airport and the third one occurred at the Maelbeek metro station, claiming lives of more than 30 people and injuring over 300.
