PARIS (Sputnik) — Earlier in the month, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced that Putin would hold talks with Hollande on October 19 in Paris.
"I wonder whether this meeting is useful? Whether it is necessary?… Whether we can eventually ensure that he stops doing what he does together with the Syrian regime, backing aircraft of the regime bombing Aleppo's residents? I keep wondering whether I should receive Vladimir Putin. If I do receive him, I will say that it is unacceptable and bad for Russia's image," Hollande said in the interview with TMC broadcaster.
Fighting in Syria's Aleppo intensified after nationwide ceasefire regime collapsed. On Saturday, Russia blocked the French draft resolution on Syria settlement in the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), however it was unable to secure support for its own draft in the UNSC.
