KIEV (Sputnik) — The Ukrainian delegation is reportedly worried by Agramunt's pro-Russian stance and his seeming willingness to lift the sanctions off Russia.
"We are worried that the politician delegated to this post by the European People's Party does not act according to the principles of EPP or the principles of PACE… We are studying the regulations to officially address this issue in the Assembly," Iryna Herashchenko, the member of the Ukrainian parliament's delegation to PACE, said, as quoted by Ukrainian newspaper Evropeyskaya Pravda.
Agramunt took office in 2016 and would normally remain president for one more year, but if the Ukrainian resolution gains traction, there could be a new election in 2017.
