MOSCOW (Sputnik) — At least one terrorist attack has been foiled in Russia's North Caucasus this year, with dozens of militants detained and nearly 100 killed, the National Antiterrorism Committee (NAC) said Tuesday.
"During this period, one terrorist act was prevented in the North Caucasus, 49 militants and 328 associates have been detained, 95 bandits killed, including 15 ringleaders," the NAC said in a statement, quoting chairman Alexander Bortnikov's address.
Bortnikov stressed that efforts aimed at normalizing the situation in the region are continuing, the NAC added.
